High blood pressure in children

The amount of children in America that are overweight is quite significant and it keeps increasing. The problem with kids being overweight is that it causes health problems like high blood pressure. Hypertension increases the risk for a stroke.

Children are becoming obese because they are consuming to much salt in their diets. It is important to limit salt intake and start being active. It is recommended for children that are overweight to try and lose 1 pound per week until a healthy weight is reached.

Most of the salt intake is in processed foods, fast food places and restaurants.  It’s important to watch what kids are eating and how much.  Children should be eating more fruits and vegetables and avoid drinking sodas.
